Restau-rants: Pita Pit

You know, not a whole lot is open in Lexington at 10:30 on Sunday night.  Not Ramsey's, not Chipotle, not Mellow Mushroom.

Lucky for us.

If some of our regular grub locales would have been open, we never would have discovered Pita Pit at 315 South Limestone.  Just 3 months old, this place Pitagirosis part-Subway, part-Qdoba, and all good.  I say part-Subway because spread in front of you at the counter is an array of toppings--from the standard lettuce-tomato-onion to the more extraordinary hummus, baba ganoush.  Part-Qdoba because by the time the pita artists are finished stuffing that marsupial-esque pita, I am amazed they are even able to roll it up.

I ordered the Gyro and watched my man grill some beef, onions, and peppers.  Lettuce, tomato, olives, hummus, and feta cheese later and I had one h-u-g-e sandwich in my hands.  Which is what I want at 10:30 on Easter Sunday.  My only complaint about the place, and I do mean only, was that there was no lamb option for the gyro.

Erin would like to point out that they carry Coke products.  A big plus.

The music was rocking; the dude making the pitas was not just friendly, he was cool; and, like I said, the food was amazing (and reasonably priced).  They deliver: 253-0333.

And, they're open late...
